HND in Mechanical Engineering

HND in Mechanical Engineering has following specification.

1. Automobile Engineering
2. Production Engineering
3. Refrigeration & air-conditioning Engineering

HND in Mechanical Production Engineering.
The program of study provides a broad knowledge and training in the principle procedures and techniques of mechanical and manufacturing engineering and engineering management.
The curriculum consists of engineering design, manufacturing and materials technology, control of manufacturing systems, mechanical maintenance, and quality assurance. Throughout the course there is a strong emphasis on the use of computers in the design and manufacture and control mechanisms.

HND in Automobile Engineering
In addition to the common subjects related to the mechanical engineering such as manufacturing and materials technology, thermodynamics, engineering drawing, mechanical science, engineering design, use of computers, the students who are selected to follow the Automobile engineering option have to study subjects specially, Vehicle technology, engine technology, design of vehicle systems.

HND in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineering.
HNDE is the only recognized diploma program which awards diploma level certificates in the field of Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineering. Apart from the subjects which are common to the field of mechanical engineering the students have to study refrigeration and air conditioning, design of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

Employment Opportunities
Since the increase of production organizations in Sri Lanka, employment opportunities have gone up in the field of mechanical engineering. Here are some industries where HNDE Diploma holders are employed. Road Development Authority (RDA), Road Construction & Development Company (RC & DC), Ports Authority, Dockyard, Ceylon Electricity board (CEB), etc...
